Ancient boiserie is represented by those large wooden panels decorated, inlaid, engraved or carved that were once placed on the interior walls such as libraries and studios for decorative purposes, but especially to improve thermal insulation and make the rooms warmer.
Widely used in France in the 17th and 18th centuries, some of the most beautiful ancient boiserie ever made can still be admired today at the Palace of Versailles. Towards the end of the nineteenth century, the use of wood panelling spread to Italy, where they were known as lambrino, or lambrino frame.
Today these furnishings are the subject of an important revaluation, the same that has affected in general the construction techniques and ancient building materials, and there are more and more interiors for private use, commercial or professional high-end that make use of these decorations of inimitable charm.
There are several versions of old boiserie, which can be used with different functionalities: not only as coverings, but also as tailor-made solutions to delimit and separate spaces, equip walls or embellish interior doors. Simple, with relief decorations, inlays and frames or painted, the ancient boiserie are made of oak, fir, pine or larch: valuable materials, which ensure strength and beauty.
